October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Okay, okay...I know I'm super late with this as October is almost over and I know I'm super lame since I promised more frequent posting, and it's been a month since I have done anything. Anyway, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! YAY! Feel your boobies! Save the tatas! As someone who has had a family member suffer from breast cancer, this is very important to me. My grandma on my mom's side had a mastectomy a few years ago and went through a round of chemotherapy and I'm glad to report that she is cancer free! So in honor of her, and her struggle - I will be doing my first 5k at the end of this month! I might not be able to run the whole thing...and will probably die doing it - but I'm super excited to do something this month as a tribute to her.

Since PINK is the color for breast cancer awareness, I decided to do my nails in this hot pink color I received as a freebie in a blog sale purchase the other day. It's called Fire from L.A. Colors. I usually don't wear loud colors. Most of my nail polishes are various shades of red and neutral blush pinks. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this color. I've always been an OPI girl but, unfortunately I haven't found them on island to purchase and for some reason nail polish isn't allowed to be shipped internationally (at least that's what MAC says)...but since I received this one in the mail - I guess there are ways around that ;) And hell, free is free! The polish is actually pretty sheer and I had to put on three coats to make it this vibrant but it was totally worth it! These were taken inside, with the flash on...and I would give you pics of it in natural light but it is presently raining and 5:39PM...no natural light to be seen here! Bear with me, my nails are still growing and healing from the acrylics I had on last month!

I actually really love this polish and while waiting for this to dry, I looked up the other colors in their line and they have quite a few that I want now! At $1.50-$2 a piece on CherryCulture.com - I really HOPE that they can ship them here! What do y'all think?

Diet Day 1

I know this is off the topic of makeup, hair, and fashion (which is what this blog is supposed to be about - not that you'd be able to tell from my lack of posting), but I needed somewhere I could track my progress with this diet and didn't feel like making a new blog. I have decided to do a soup diet. This one is The Sacred Heart, you can read about it here. This diet was developed by Sacred Heart Hospital in Pennsylvania for overweight cardiac patients going in for surgery who needed to lose weight before being able to go under the knife. According to the different sites I've seen, this diet is said to help one lose 10-17 pounds. On average, I've seen people on message boards say they lost a good 8 pounds, and someone who was crazy enough to do this diet for two months lost 25 lbs. It has become very popular among people who would like to drop a few pounds quickly, or even just jumpstart a newer, healthier diet. The diet is seven days long. Through these seven days, you can eat all the soup you want. On specific days, you are to eat specific things like bananas and milk, steak, or even a baked potato with butter.

So, I'm on my first day - and honestly, the soup isn't that bad! Since you can season it with whatever you want, I put in hella salt, hella pepper, season salt, worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, red cayenne pepper, beef boullion, bay leaf, and parsley. (The pepper flakes and red cayenne will help to boost your metabolism). It tastes like vegetable beef soup...minus the beef. What it could really use is a damn cracker, or piece of a baguette - but alas, no carbs today. You are allowed to drink as much water, unsweetened fruit juice, black coffee, and herbal tea as you want. You're also allowed as much fruit as you want on most of the days. Today my fruit of choice is grapes. I see a trip to the store soon as I have already eaten most of them. lol

Day one - not so bad. But then again, I've only eaten the soup twice today. I'm sure by day three I'll be ready to bust out and do away with the soup. My downfall is: I HATE LEFTOVERS. I hate eating anything that's been in the fridge for more than a few hours. The recipe given makes enough soup for more than a few days. So I feel like my biggest challenge isn't eating soup all week - but eating LEFTOVER soup all week. I weighed myself this morning and hopefully by the end of my seven days, I can say that I did SOMETHING right! lol

My "Vanity"

Hi out there! If you're still following, I appreciate it! I know I haven't posted in FOREVER but, I just haven't felt any inspiration. I've had a little bit going on and have just been in "a mood" for awhile. I think that it has passed now...so hopefully I'll back and start posting more regularly. I'd really like to build up my blog!

I figured today, I'd post pics of my "vanity" area. It's not a vanity in the traditional sense. It's actually a dresser on loan from the government while we live in government housing (a perk of living overseas). All that matters is that it holds all my stuff. It's positioned in front of a window on the side of the house that the sun actually hits, which I find to be important when I'm applying makeup. Here are a few pics of my stash. The top two drawers also hold my hair stuff like my hot rollers, hair dryer, curling irons, ties, sprays, etc...as well as empty MAC packages and false lashes. :) *Clicking them will enlarge them*

I actually need more thingies with drawers, but I like them all to match and I can't find the same ones here in Japan as the one I have (and love!) lol So I'll just make due with what I have 'til I get home to the good ol' USofA next year. <3

So there you have it. My "vanity" area. My stash. My addiction. My LOVE. I might have a few more posts tonight. I have a couple of hauls to put up, with swatches perhaps.

See ya soon! xoxo

MAC Haul = ♥

I love checking the post office and finding packages in my box. There's a peaceful calm that comes over me...for a minute until the "OMG MAKEUP!!!" frenzy begins. :D Here's a peek at my latest haul...
1st Row: Stars 'N Rockets, Pink Venus, Ricepaper
2nd Row: Pin Curl, Tete-A-Tint, Hoppin
3rd Row: Mystery, Honeylust, Grain

I had pics of swatches, but they looked like crap. So forgive me, but you're not getting any...today. lol I went a little too crazy with the swatch idea.

L-R: Costa Chic, Made With Love, Madly Creative, Cockney, Trimming Talk

I LOVE ALL OF THEM! They are all so beautiful on! Costa Chic is my favorite I think. That or Trimming Talk. Which looks similar to Rimmel's Kiss. But with more of a blue tone. But whatever. I love them. I just need to start wearing lipCOLOR and not just lipGLOSS when I leave my house.

Here are my eyes today. I was trying to get a full face pic with Trimming Talk on, but my face wasn't cooperating with the lighting and the camera, so I scrapped that idea today too.

Products used (All products MAC unless noted):
Prep + Prime in Medium
Soba (all over lid)
Espresso (outer half)
Pin Curl (inner half)
Phloof (highlight)
Clinique cream liner in True Black
DiorShow Mascara in Black
Avon Super Full mascara in Black
Satin Taupe (bottom liner)

So that's my big post! I was super excited to take all these pics today! I just wish I could've done a little bit better with the swatches and all. Let me know what you think about my newest additions!

Swap Haul!!!

Through surfing the web and the small Okinawa community, I befriended a girl named Dominique through a mutual love of all things makeup. Apprehensive at first, since I don't really get along with girls - she ended up being a totally down ass chick who was really easy to talk to and BS about any and everything with. So I definitely look forward to the next few months she has left here! Here's the link to her blog: Mika chan ♥ sparkles. She came over one day and we swapped out some makeup :) Here's what I got!

Left to right: Urban Decay Grafitti, Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy, About Face Cosmetics, Pristine nature, MAC Scatterays Solar Bits, Gilded Pleasure (made by her!), and MAC Reflects Rust

I normally stray away from anything but neutral colors, but after seeing Grafitti - I HAD TO HAVE IT! It is SO beautiful! The texture is amazingly creamy and goes on so pigmented with just one swipe. I love all the other stuff I acquired as well, but I just had to RAVE about Grafitti for a minute. hahaha

MAC Venomous Villains!

I'm SO excited for this collection to premiere this September! What girl doesn't love Disney?! I have a hunch that it will definitely be more about the packaging than the actual products for me. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure there will be hella awesomeness in said packaging - I just know for me - that's where its at. lol The trailer can be viewed here. I have to admit - I've watched it like, a jillion times already! From what I can see in the video, the selected villains are:

Cruella De Vil

Malificent

The Evil Queen from Snow White

Dr. Facilier

So there it is. MAC + Disney Villians = (hopefully) GREATNESS!

Stay tuned for my next post...it'll be a BIG one with pics of my latest hauls with swatches :D

Mad Men...or drive the Men Mad? ;)

I love the show Mad Men, and generally most things vintage inspired from the 50's-60's. I love the matte face, the basic nude eye, winged out black liner, and the BOLD, beautiful red lip. So for my first actual beauty inspired post, here is my retro look. Please excuse the tired look, it was 2AM...and I was running on three hours of sleep. Let me know what you think!

May 27th can't get here soon enough!

OMFG. I just saw the new trailer for Sex and the City 2...and I CANNOT WAIT for it to come out! Unfortunately, living in the armpit of the world - I mean Okinawa - I am unsure if this will have the same release date. But if it does - I will totally go see it by myself if I have to. Enjoy this trailer if you haven't seen it already! ;)

To quote Rachel Zoe...

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie.

Seriously. For these shoes. I DIE. Bebe Liza platform pumps. They are beyond sexy and gorgeous and I can't find them to save my life. I love them...like a french man loves crepes. Like a filipino loves lumpia. Like a mexican loves tacos. Like...well...you get the picture. ;) I've looked on eBay, and of course, they're always out of size 7. Damn it. If anyone knows of a good comparable shoe, or even someone that would like to get rid of their pair - lemme know - so I can stop dying for them and live in their presence!

I know this doesn't exactly have to do with beauty, but since I've slacked on a post since getting sick - I figured this would suffice for the time being. Hopefully I'll feel good enough to actually do a makeup related post this week.

xoxo

P.S. YAY for my first follower!!! lol

So...

I had every intention of posting some kind of cool makeup look today, but I feel like dog shit. For rizzles. I woke up feeling like death warmed over. So...that awesome look will have to wait 'til tomorrow.

That's all the energy I have for this post.

G'night.

I've Decided.

So...I haven't really had anything interesting to blog about in a while. But tonight, I decided that I will be turning THIS blog into a makeup blog. It is my obsession, and I'm hoping that doing a photo of the day will encourage me to be more daring with my looks. Currently, I'm on this matte, neutral look every day - which is a waste with all these gorgeous colors I'm in possession of. A pic of that will probably be my first FOTD. So wish me luck on this new adventure! :)

Here I Go Again.

This has GOT to be like, my tenth blog since the rise of blogging. Let's see how long this one lasts.

Things you should know:
1. I always title my blog entries after a song...and usually put up a link to the lyrics (not this time...cuz I'm lazy).
2. I'm up late a lot so this usually includes sleep deprived ranting, ravings and thoughts.
3. Just because I live in Japan and I use the name Lil Asian Girl - doesn't mean I'm Japanese.

That's all I have come up with right now. Seeing that it is 8:24AM and I have yet to sleep...so...later blog.
